Scare stories at Fonseka rallies
Election observers and the opposition today dismissed as false, rumors and SMS messages to suggest that there were impending attacks planned on political rallies to be attended by the common candidate General (Retd.) Sarath Fonseka.
“This is a move to scare away the crowds that have been swelling in numbers at meeting held by the SF camp. There is no truth whatsoever in the stories”, a spokesperson for the Janatha Vimukthi Perumana (JVP) said.
He was backed by Rohana Hettiarachchi of the People’s Action For Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) who added these rumors should not be taken seriously adding that some mischief makers were behind the issue.
