No Court Martial On Parliamentary Days – Speaker Tells Army Commander

The Speaker stated in Parliament today that a letter would be sent to Army Commander asking not to hold court martial sessions on days Parliament sessions are held. The Speaker Chamal Rajapske said this in response to a privilege issue raised by Member of Parliament Gen. Sarath Fonseka.

 

The General stated that his Parliamentary privileges are violated when court martial sessions are held on days Parliamentary sessions are held.

 

The Speaker accepting the privilege issue raised by Member of Parliament Gen. Sarath Forsake said he would take measures to inform the Army commander to refrain from calling court martial on days Parliamentary sessions are held.
