More LTTE military items uncovered in clearing operations

Sri Lanka Army troops continued clearing operation in liberated areas uncovered more LTTE military hardware from Vavuniya,Mannar and Kilinochchi districts yesterday (05 May), military sources said.

 

 

 

Progressive mine clearing operations are continuing in the North with security forces making way for swift resettlement and infrastructure building.

 

56 Division troops engaged in clearing operations have uncovered 70 x AP (Anti personnel) mines, 60 x AP (Type-Rangan) mines, 24 x (Type-P 1) mines, 01 x Claymore mine (2Kg) and a detonator at general areas Kasawapuliyamkulam, Periyapandivirichchan, Mallawarayankaddampan, Periyathampannai, Maruthamadu and Iranaaillupukulam in Vavuniya district.

 

Also troops at general areas Narikkulama and Alankulam in Mannar district, have uncovered 02 more AP mines during clearing operations conducted yesterday.

 

Meanwhile, Task Force -3 troops have also found 18 x AP mines during a separate clearing operation conducted at general area Alankulam in Kilinochchi district.

 

Clearing operations are being continued.
